The Memorial Hospital is seeking an experienced and dynamic nursing leader to join our team as Nurse Unit Manager (NUM) for the Paediatric Ward, Paediatric Day Stay Unit and Sleep Studies Unit.

This is an exciting opportunity for a highly motivated Registered Nurse with strong clinical and leadership experience to lead a dedicated multidisciplinary team and contribute to the delivery of exceptional patient-centred care.

About the role:

Reporting to the Director of Nursing, the Nurse Unit Manager is responsible for the operational, clinical and strategic leadership of the Paediatric Ward, Paediatric Day Stay Unit and Sleep Studies Unit.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Leading and managing a multidisciplinary team to deliver high-quality patient care

  • Ensuring safe, efficient and effective unit operations

  • Driving quality improvement, patient safety and accreditation outcomes

  • Managing staffing, rostering and resource allocation

  • Developing, mentoring and supporting nursing staff

  • Collaborating with medical specialists, executive management and key stakeholders

  • Leading change initiatives and service improvements

  • Supporting the achievement of organisational and departmental KPIs

  • Managing the Sleep Studies service and associated staff

  • Ensuring compliance with National Safety and Quality Health Service (NSQHS) Standards and hospital policies

About you:

To be successful in this role, you will demonstrate:

  • Current registration as a Registered Nurse with AHPRA

  • Minimum 7 years' post-registration nursing experience

  • Previous leadership or management experience in an acute healthcare setting

  • Strong clinical knowledge and sound decision-making skills

  • Exceptional communication, negotiation and interpersonal abilities

  • Proven ability to lead teams and foster a positive workplace culture

  • Commitment to quality improvement and patient-centred care

  • Excellent organisational and time-management skills

  • Current South Australian Working With Children Check
